TEEN SELF ESTEEM/BODY IMAGE GROUP

The Purpose of the Group
This group is designed to provide support and psycho-education for teens regarding Self Esteem and Body Image issues. The group will be strength based and allow teens the opportunity to explore these difficult issues with peers in a supportive and supervised environment.
The group will meet for six weeks and will include 6-10 teens. Any teen struggling with self-esteem or body image concerns and/or depression related to these issues are encouraged to attend. We encourage all members to commit to attending all sessions to optimize their experience. This will be a closed group, meaning, after registration closes we will not accept new participants until the next session is offered. Discussion topics will vary as decided by the group, but may include:
- Developing a positive and accurate body image
- Skills and confidence development activities
- Coping with bullying
- Risk assessment
- Teen Depression
Session Date, Location and Fees
Day/time to be determined based on group members availability.
Next Group Begins on the week of Sept 15th, 2014
$150 for Six Week Session (Payment on start date) or $30 per week

About the Facilitator
Jinnie Wong-Martinusen, LMFT
Jinnie has been working in mental health since 1996. She served 6 years as a Mental Health Specialist/Combat Medic in the United States Army Reserve. During those years Jinnie worked in an in-patient mental health facility with adult clients and also supported children in a group home setting, while working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. During graduate school Jinnie was fortunate to work under the supervision of Dr. David Nylund, Ph.D, LCSW at La Familia Counseling Center. Dr. Nylund is a renowned Narrative Therapist. Jinnie went on to work at Visions Unlimited and Turning Point Children’s Outpatient where she continued to assist children and teens, as well as their support persons with meeting their goals. The non-profit system is extremely diverse which allowed for a wide range of experience. Jinnie has experience facilitating a variety of groups in a non-profit setting, and opened her private practice in Midtown Sacramento in 2012. Jinnie has been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 2006, is in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences and is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Jinnie prides herself in her work as a Narrative Therapist and has attended workshops with Michael White and David Epston. She also has a great deal of experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy and Play Therapy. She is a Gottman trained Couples Therapist as well.
